We worked on Friday the 20th and then had 2 days off till Monday

We Drove down to Colorado Springs and Toured the Air Force Academy
on Saturday, 20th

Pikes Peaks July 21, 2001

That Afternoon we Did the Drive up Pikes Peak

 

Going through the Entrance to Pikes Peak @11:30am

Now We are off the Paved Road and on fine wet muddy rock in the Rain

We are now up above the Tree line and its Dry for now

We, Bill and Myself, make it to the Top.. 14,110 ft above sea level
The Air was very thin.. I got very lightheaded for about a half hour !

 

The Visitor Center & an Old Race Car they used years ago to race up Pikes Peak

Road.. It took over a hour to Safely drive it.

The Rental Car we drove to the top of  Pikes Peaks  was a new Hyundai XG300
 with only 61 miles.. I took it to a manual car wash with pressure water sprayers,
the next morning, to clean the car as I mudded it out pretty good !

Rocky Mountain National Park
Wednesday - July 25, 2001

I took Bill back to the Denver Airport on Tuesday, I took a few
days of Vacation and drove up to Fort Collins where a Friend of mine
Lived and I spend a few days with her. We visited the Park the next day.

 

 

 

 

 

 

This National Park has the Highest paved roads in the United States
and you Drive on the Peaks of the Rocky Mountains in this area
